Praxis: Tech-Savvy COMSEC
This post over at SurvivalBlog is well worth the read if you’re a bit *nix savvy. Most of us are passingly familiar with the idea of a book-code. This expounds on that.
Might be a good idea to have three or five different lists printed out, multiple copies, and cached. Might mark it with GPS coords (a la GeoCaching, which makes good practice, btw.), and distribute that info securely to your tribe.
The ability to encode and decode messages is nice, as well.
Coupled with a secret USB dead-drop (PGP encrypted so only your tribe can access it) there are other possibilities as well.
